Raysulate BBIT/BPTM
Heat-Shrinkable Busbar insulation tubing

An advanced approach to busbar insulation.

New designs of switchgear for voltages upto 36kV follow the principle for reducing size as much as possible. Insulated busbars are necessary to provide maximum protection, particularly in confined spaces, against flashover and accidentally induced discharge. Choosing the right busbar insulation can be difficult.

To slove this problem, Raychem has developed a series of heat-shrinkable tubings in the Raysulate product line, for use on both aluminium and copper busbars of circular and rectangular cross section. BBIT/BPTM tubing is highly flexible and has been installed on a wide range of curved and bent busbars without cracking or creasing.

BBIT/BPTM tubing can easily be installed in factories in large scale production using a hot air oven or on site using a simple electrician's torch or hot air device. On application of heat in excess of 125 0 C the tubing shrinks onto the busbar, closely conforming to the busbar profile and ensuring that the required minimum wall thickness is always obtained. Raysulate HVBT
Heat-shrinkable insulating tape for protection of high voltage bus bars and overhead lines

In some instances, particularly when existing equipment cannot be dismantled, a wraparound product provides the optimum solutio. When used to insulate bus bars, HVBT minimises the risk of flashover at service voltages if the bars are bridged temporarity by foreign objects. HVBT can be used to insulate overhead lines to minimise risk of flashover caused by swinging conductors or reduced clearances such as under bridges, trees or other physical obstructions.

Although supplied in tape form, HVBT shrinks under the application of heat to form a complete lap to lap seal as the especially formulated adhesive layer melts, thus making HVBT, in effect, wraparound tube.

HVBT is designed to be compatible with, and seal onto, other products in the Raysulate range, yet it does not adhere to metal, enabling easy removal for subsquent bolt tighteing or maintenance.

Cable End Caps:
Heat-shrinkable moulded caps are used for sealing all tyeps of high and low voltage power cables. Precoated adhesive provides a complete environmental seal. A cap fits many cable sizes.

Typical use include:
. Protection of cables in storage
. Live end seals up to 600V
. Conduit sealing
   Fits from 8mm - 94mm

Wraparound Cable Repair:
Heat-shrinkable wraparound - type sleeve replaces and repairs damaged insulation on jacketed on jacketed power cables. The wraparound closure mechanism alow installation on uncut or unspliced cables. Adhesive coating assures environmental seal. Heat-sensitive paint indicates complete installation.
Also ideal for
. Conduit repair
. Corrosion protection of conduit fittings
. Jacket repair on multi conductor and high voltage cables
. Repair of damaged drops cords
   Fits diameters from 6mm - 165mm

High Voltage Power Cable Joints :
Heat shrinkable cable joint systems are designed for all types of cables viz. PILC, XLPE, PVC and rubber insulated of single and multiconductor constructions upto 72kV. The joints are installed rapidly requiring far less installation effort and time than epoxy/polyurethane, tape or premoulded kits. The kits reconstruct the jointed cable with factory engineered and tested components and provide a moisture proof environmental seal. A unique mechanical protection system which far exceeds the requirements of Engineering Recommendations C-81 provides a strong and impact resistant envelop around the jointed cables. The kits meet or exceed IEEE 404. VDE 0278, and other international standards.

Low Voltage Joints :
Raychem joints for 2, 3 & 4 core PVC, PILC, XLPE and rubber cables adopt the well proven heat shrink technique to give water tight environmental sealing of the cables, thereby completely eliminating the need for compound or resin filling. The result is a quick an economically installed joint requiring no special skills. The joints cut handling problems, have unlimited shelf life upto 50 0 C and have mechanical strength equal to or better than the cable itself.

Low Voltage Terminations:
Installed in millions throughout the world and widely specified by electrical utilities, Raychem cable terminations for PILC, PVC, XLPE and rubber cables are available.

Cable Terminations:
The Scale and speed of modern mining requires versatile and dependable electrical power supply, which can be rapidly extended and  aintained. Raychem contributes to the industry's high levels of efficiency with a flexible cable termination system for up to 36kV which is specifically designed for mining  purposes.

Raychem flexible terminations have a range of features which decisively reduce down-time. Theslim design simplifies connections in confined spaces. Free movement and easy transport of terminated flexible cables is allowed by the highly pliable materials used, and long reliability in service is ensured by the system's field-proven performance in rugged mining conditions.
